Leaving Cerro Punta

Yesterday in the afternoon, students shared their cloud forest mini projects. Engagement and personal initiative were key guiding principles. After dinner, students packed and enjoyed some time together. This morning we left in a timely manner but were delayed by, among other things, taxi drivers protesting high gas prices by blocking the Pan American Highway. We stopped for a late lunch and arrived GuararĂ© a little before 5 pm. Students are excited for a new phase in the course, and, tomorrow, Mitzy and others will guide us in an exploration of Cumbia a traditional musical rhythm and folk dance with roots in the Colombian Caribbean. I’m sure students will have something to say about it tomorrow. We’ve been without WiFi for the past 48 hours, and the prospect of having consistent internet will make communications much easier.
