Cumbia & Tamborito

OOHHHHHH HUEY HUEY HUEY HUEYYYYYY!!!! Today we learned the folklore dance Cumbia from Francisco Bustamante, more familiarly known as Pancho, and we had the honor of hearing and dancing to the beautiful music from the Bonaga family. Pancho taught the CSW students three of the three Cumbia dance styles, Cumbia Abierta, Cumbia Cerrada, and Cumbia Atravesada. The female identifying students wore beautiful skirts called “Polleras” and the males wore “Sombreros” as we danced together in celebration of the Panamanian Folklore and history. After that, we learned how to dance to Tamborito with Pancho as the Bonaga family created music for us. We got to sing and dance and clap to the rhythm with them, creating our own fiesta. Day one of the CSW students’ Panamanian cultural exploration was a success. OH HUEY!!
