Gatitos, Perritos y Cometas, oh my!

Hola amigos! Lila and Hannah here 🙂

Today, we splPed-kite-Vet013it up into two groups to do two separate activities. I (Lila) went with the group that went to a Kite Festival a little outside of Pedasí, on an old airplane runway. Steve and Patricio gave us some rainbow kites to share. It was very windy and all our kites flew very well. We even fully unspooled one kite and flew it super high! There were lots of local groups and families there flying kites, and there was a small track for children to bike around. After flying the kites we went under a Ped-kite-Vet034tent and played card games. I was the champion of President (a card game frequently played by youths). No big deal. We are all nice and sunkissed (but not burned- don’t worry mom! (lol)). We also saw a large herd of cows that all walked in a very swaggy line down the airplane runway.

I (Hannah) went with the other group to an animal shelter nearby to help as some dogs and cats were being neutered and spayed. We got to clean the animals and cuddle with them as they recovered from their surgery. The clinic even neutered and spayed stray cats and dogs so that they won’t breed and make more stray animals. We met a woman who is from Pittsfield, Massachusetts and moved to Pedasí with her husband and now works at the animal clinic. The cats and dogs were all very sweet and very cute! I asked my teacher what her favoPed-kite-Vet002rite place in Pedasí was, so after the clinic she brought us all to her favorite bakery in Pedasí. We ate some choripan (which is basically a pig in a blanket but better).

We met back together for lunch, and we are excited to spend the afternoon exploring Pedasí. Hasta luego! Over and out. Houston, no problems here!

With love and sunkissed smiles,

Lila and Hannah
